Self-love is the glue that makes your fitness routine stick!

Who is the most important person in your life?

The answer is you! Yes, you. You have to live with yourself every moment of every day. So you best get along, and take good care of yourself! You can’t give to others unless your cup is full; and ideally, your cup should be full of good physical and mental health, good habits, and good self-care activities that will keep you energized. Because none of us are perfect, we’re all in the daily pursuit of well-being. It’s important to make time for ourselves.

Remember those New Year’s resolutions—made when we annually reflect on where we are, and where we’d like to be? Don’t lose sight of those goals and ambitions! Make a commitment to yourself, review those goals, and adjust or get back on track if need be. If your goals need a refresh, then restate them with a loving voice, and positive mindset. Goals set with a positive tone (like “eat more veggies”) are easier to achieve and maintain than goals set in the negative (like “stop snacking at night”).

5 self-love activities for health and well-being:

  1. #selflovesunday

Join the #selflovesunday movement! And dedicate at least part of your Sunday to doing something you love, whether that means a message; a hike in the woods; time to pursue a hobby or a VIBE!

  1. Pen and Paper

Who knew that pen and paper would be today’s tools for a better life? You may think that’s old school technology but they are the tools for goal setting and journaling, both proven to reduce stress levels. Up your satisfaction by including daily affirmations listing those things that you’re grateful for. And if you’re not really a words person, then drawing or even coloring will give similar benefits.

  1. Dry Brushing

Dry brushing is a daily self-love ritual that takes only a few minutes and gives amazing health benefits. Dry brushing is a form of self-massage designed to stimulate and move lymphatic fluid just like the VIBE. Use a dry brush, and starting with your feet use short strokes up your legs, in an upward direction, towards your heart. Then start again with your hands, and up your arms towards your heart. Use a counter-clockwise motion on your abdomen. Make sure your brush is not too hard; this is not an exfoliating activity.

  1. Mindfulness and Meditation

It’s no secret that meditation improves physical and mental health. (If you’re curious about just how many benefits, here are 76! https://liveanddare.com/benefits-of-meditation/). In a rush and feeling overwhelmed? Then stay present by focusing your mind on your breathing, as it will instantly help you focus, connect and calm down.

  1. Aromatherapy

Fancy diffusers are popular gifts these days, but aromatherapy has been a self-love activity for 6000 years! The benefits of aromatherapy are as varied as the essential oils and oil blends. It’s important to only use pure, organic essential oils. Benefits include reduced anxiety, depression, and headaches; improved healing, energy levels, and cognitive function; and better sleep, digestion, and circulation. Add a few drops of essential oil to your massage oil, body scrub, body wash, bathwater, diffuser or cleaning products to boost your mood and health!
