Pure Vibe’s Sugar Swap Guide!

It should come as no surprise that consuming too much sugar is detrimental to your health. A diet high in fructose and simple sugars causes you to be weak, increases food cravings, damages your liver, lowers your brain function and metabolizes food directly into fat.

Talk about not feeling, looking or living better!

We recommend a diet with 25 grams (or ideally less) of sugar a day. If you want to super fuel your diet and have the energy and body to keep perusing the lifestyle you love, then you’ll want to introduce some of the sugar swaps below right away!

  • Beverages:
    Swap out soda, pop, diet drinks, aspartame drinks and packaged juices for high quality green tea, water with lemon and/or lime or mineral water that comes in glass.
  • Starches:
    Swap out wheat, corn, potato starch (which all digest like sugar in your system) for sweet potatoes, yams, carrots, pumpkin and butternut squash. Remember to shop organic when you can.
  • Snacks:
    Swap out packaged snacks, processed sports bars, and chocolates, cheese and baked goods for blackberries, raspberries, and cranberries. Other healthy swaps that will leave you feeling satisfied and fueled are avocados, organic raw dark chocolate and coconut. Just remember to keep your daily intake of sugars to under 25 grams. Just because it’s healthy, it doesn’t mean you want to over eat these foods!
  • Sweeteners:
    Swap out aspartame (NutraSweet), Sucralose (Splenda), high fructose corn syrup, fruit juice concentrate, agave and white/brown sugars for xylitol, erythritol and stevia.
