Improve Your Love Life with a Maca-licious Smoothie

Maca is cruciferous vegetable native to Peru, most commonly available in Canada as a powder. It’s a root, similar in appearance to a radish or a turnip. Its medicinal properties have been used for centuries, although it’s a relative new-comer to North America. In addition to balancing hormones, it’s an excellent source of antioxidants, potassium, calcium, magnesium, and protein. Maca contains all eight essential amino acids, making it a popular choice for those on a vegan diet. For this recipe, soak the raw cashews overnight in pink salted water. Soaking the cashews breaks down the phytic acid found in nuts (allows for better mineral absorption) and neutralizes the nuts’ enzyme inhibitors.

Organic Ingredients:

¼ cup raw cashews (ideally soaked overnight in pink salted water)

1 cup coconut water

½ cup filtered water

1 medjool date

1 sliced and frozen banana

1 tsp maca powder

1 tsp ground cinnamon

1 tsp ginger (powder or fresh grated)

1 tsp pure vanilla extract

Instructions:

Blend all ingredients. Enjoy!
