DIY LUBE RECIPES FOR BETTER SEX!

Whether lube is a staple on your nightstand or just something you’re curious about, it’s important to use lubrications that are all natural, as anything you put on your skin your body absorbs. Most popular lubes on the market have toxic chemicals in them – NOT SEXY! Treat your body, your skin and your vagina to a luxurious healthy lube.

Lube has gotten a bad rep as something women only need to use when they experience vaginal dryness. The truth is lube can be used to enhance any sexual experience (solo or with a partner)! Studies show women who use lubricant have higher levels of pleasure and less pain from sex.

It’s important to find a lube that feels good on your skin and compliments any form of pregnancy prevention you might be using. Always use a water-based or silicone-based lube with latex condoms. Do your research to ensure the lube you choose meets what you’re looking for. You should also test any new lube recipe on a less sensitive area of skin before you use it down there! The last thing you want is to find our you’re allergic to something that you’ve just rubbed all over your lady parts (ouch!)

Get creative when making your lube! The ingredients below can be used alone or in combination with each other. We’ve included some of our favourite combinations at the end of this post. DIY Lubes don’t last as long as commercial products, so be sure to make it fresh (Or in our case, always keep a bottle of Aloe Vera Gel in the bedroom).

Ingredient  Benefits
Coconut Oil Very moisturizing, doesn’t contain skin irritating chemicals and is easy to melt in your palms and then apply on your skin. Naturally antimicrobial substance making is safe.
Pure Aloe Vera Gel

Most aloe vera is water based, making it safe to use with condoms. It’s easily available, cheap and all natural. A little goes a long way for slippery sex!
Olive Oil A little goes a long way, and it’s not greasy! You can find it almost anywhere (most likely you have it at home already). It’s very moisturizing for women suffering from dryness.
Flaxseeds Can be purchased in bulk and easily made into a lube at home. High in omega-3 fatty acids, it will restore your skin while creating lubrication! Can be bought as an oil or in bulk and prepared. See our recipe below if you choose to buy it in bulk.
Essential Oils

Only use pure, therapeutic grade oils – your mucous membrane is very sensitive, and you want only the highest quality ingredients in your lube! Try peppermint oil for a tingly lube or ylang ylang oil to promote libido. A few drops is all you will need.
Vitamin E Oil

Can be applied topically to the labia to help moisturize and strengthen the vaginal tissue. Always use a therapeutic grade, which can be found in most health food stores.
Almond Oil This oil is safe, moisturizing and smells wonderful! You don’t need to worry about it leaving stains on your sheets, which makes it our top pick!

2 Ingredient Flaxseed DIY Lube:

This simple lube is water-based, meaning it will be safe with condoms. If you choose to mix it up and add an essential oil to the recipe (which you should totally try), then it would become an oil-based lube and NOT be suitable for use with condoms.

Ingredients:

  • Flax seeds
  • Water

Instructions:

  1. Bring 1 cup of water to a simmer (almost boiling water, but not quite)
  2. Add 1 tablespoon of flaxseeds into the simmering water
  3. Watch closely, and when the water has been reduced by half, strain the seeds from the water. This process takes about 20-minutes. If you wait too long, it will be too thick to drain).
  4. Store it in the fridge when you aren’t using it. This will last 1-2 days in the fridge.

Sensational Peppermint DIY Lube:

This lube will get your bits TINGLY in all the right ways. If you find the sensation or scent of peppermint is too much, simply swap it for another safe alternative.

Ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup pure aloe vera gel
  • 1/3 cup flax seed oil
  • 6 drops of therapeutic grade peppermint oil

Instructions:

  1. Shake all ingredients in a jar!
  2. Store your lube in a glass jar, and only keep it for 1-2 days in the fridge.
