My mom always told me “good things come in small packages” and that is definately the case with our VIBE Warrior Jade Song. I coined the term just for her as that is the only way to describe her die hard commitment, laser beam focus, bullet proof determination, GRIT, speed, power, strength and athleticism. From her entrance, execution and exit she nails every class with conviction. She always ponies up and serves it like a BOSS making her a dream to coach; no fuss, no drama, no excuses just deep, hard and fast quality training like a PRO. What truly sets Jade apart is that she believes in her strength of will, purpose, heart and soul waking up each day with determination and going to bed every night with satisfaction.

Q & A

 

1. Where are you from and when did you move to Vancouver? 
I was born and raised in Korea until I was fifteen. My family moved to Canada and I went to Middle school and High school in Kelowna, BC and now I have been living in Kitsilano for about 8 years.
2. What enticed you to try VIBES? 
I was looking for a good gym in my neighborhood and came across Pure Vibe. After doing my trial class with Dom, I fell in love with HIIT! I knew that the vibe programs are a perfect fit for me.
3. Since you started Vibes in January 2016 you have done over 616 Classes, how has VIBES changed your life and what benefits have you noticed?
I am definitely more fit and healthy. Exercise is part of my daily routine now and I love how Pure Vibe Classes are quick and dirty. My body composition has changed so that I am leaner with more muscle mass and it also helps me extend that healthy habits in my diet and daily life. I used to be dehydrated all the time but Extreme gets me drenched in sweat so I started drinking more water because of that. I am 5’1 and drink 3L+ water everyday now thanks to my training.
4. What are some of your favorite aspects of coming to VIBES?  
I love the instructors, especially the ones that are strict and hard-core since I need that little bit of a push. I like that every class gets me sweaty but they are short and sweet so that I’m not wasting hours at the gym daily. Mostly, Pure Vibe trains me mentally as well so that I can go about my day with a stronger and more positive mindset. It’s helped me feel more powerful and confident.
5.  You have kindly referred friends who are also thriving, what do you tell others about your daily habit? 
I praise Pure Vibe to my friends and acquaintances. It’s short and sweet, AND effective. Especially for those who lack that consistency and willpower, once you get into the routine, Pure Vibe is a perfect fit for those who have busy daily lives. In and out in 20 minutes. Leave your problems at the door and focus on yourself! The best way to spend 20 minutes of your day.
6.  How does being a diehard Extreme Team Member help you improve your endurance, cardio, speed and stamina?
Like I said, the intense program is a great fit for me since I work well under pressure. Dom always pushes me to go harder and faster and over the course of two years, I have realized that I am really more capable than I think I am. Speed and endurance were areas that I thought I would never improve before Pure Vibe, now I know I AM my only limit.
7. As a teacher you know stats matter. How exciting is it to see your numbers consistently improve getting all the way down to 8% Body Fat with your BCA Check In’s?
To be honest, I feel like I’ve hit the wall with 8% body fat since I’m not confident I’d be able to go any lower than that! Haha The BCA Check Ins are definitely helpful to keep track of my improvements.
8. Do you believe “health is wealth” and if so how does this shape your day and the decisions you make? As busy as you are with your family and career why is it so important for you to prioritize your daily VIBE?
I actually have osteo arthritis in my right hip joint due to a childhood accident so it does prevent me from performing at the level I would like to. Too much pressure and weight-bearing would cause inflammation in my hip joints so I am always modifying to suit my needs. I know that developing my muscles in the lower body is key to living with what I have so that’s why vibing is a crucial part of my daily life and yeah, life throws things at me that prevents me from making it in to the studio some days but if it’s important to you, you’ll make time for it!
9. Do you agree with this statement: “Strong Women Unite, Weak Women Divide?”
For sure! Honestly, I don’t have a personal relationship with all the ladies that are in the Extreme Team, but when we’re all working hard in class, it feels like we have good team work going on, and we all strive toward the same goal at least for that 30 mins. There is definitely synergy in the room that fuels the training. I have so much respect to all the vibers that make in it, and make the time worth it.
10. The world’s greatest athletes, performers, musicians and artists are introverts as they know how to block out distraction, connect within and stay present.  
How has being a member of The Extreme Team helped you strengthen your mental game, dig deeper, push beyond your limits while practicing a mindful moving meditation?
I like that Vibe Classes, especially The Extreme, emphasize focusing on self. This practice definitely switched my perspective from doing workout as a chore to improving my mind and body and truly connecting to myself. I am always appreciative of Dom pushing me to go harder and faster as I sometimes need that external voice to keep me focused and get my head in the game. This practice goes beyond the 30 mins of class and helps me stay rooted and strong throughout the day.
11. Describe how you feel after class and do you notice increased energy?  
I definitely have more energy and get sick less often ever since I started vibing. As a teacher, I am surrounded by germs and sicky viruses but thanks to my total body wellness lifestyle due to Pure Vibe, I have built a stronger immune system for sure!
12. What advice would you share with a new viber that is just getting started? 
It’s hard at the beginning, but there is so much sense of accomplishment when you see the results in physical and mental improvements. There is nothing more rewarding than having the will power to be able to work hard for your goals! As Dom always says “Believe you can, and you will.”

14. Favorite Vibe Exercise: 
 
I love all the core and abs exercises. And all the push ups, mountain climbers and spiders that I would not willingly enjoy doing… as much as they are challenging, I love all of them because they make me stronger!
