Our Vibers know first-hand the powerful benefits of vibing for boosting circulation and lymph—the body’s fluids that nourish and cleanse us. But equally important to movement is clean, alkaline water. A steady intake of fresh, filtered water keeps our fluids moving and promotes the flushing of toxins.
Researchers say that up to 75 percent of us are regularly dehydrated. Common signs of dehydration include:
- Headaches, including migraines
- Bad breath
- Joint pain
- Muscle cramps
- Hunger and/or food cravings
- Dry skin
- Confusion and/or lack of focus
- Heart rhythm problems
Dehydration symptoms are directly caused by a lack of water, and therefore a lack of the fluids used to cushion our brains, lubricate our eyes and joints, hydrate our skin and muscles, and moisten our mouths. Many of us confuse the sensations of thirst with hunger and eat instead of drinking water when we’re dehydrated. Drinking a minimum of 3-4 liters of clean water each day is vital for hydration and the maintenance of all our body’s systems.
“Drinking water is like washing out your insides,” says Dr. Kevin Stone, orthopedic surgeon at the Stone Clinic, and founder of the Stone Research Foundation. “The water will cleanse the system, fill you up, decrease your caloric load and improve the function of all your tissues.”
Good hydration has even more benefits when it comes to fitness and healthy weight loss. A study published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism reported that drinking a large glass of water boosts your metabolic rate by 30%, and gives you the feeling of being full, which contributes to a lower calorie consumption during the day. And when you’re hydrated you can work out longer, faster, and harder with improved endurance.
